Rabbits breed fast: pregnancy is only about 31 days, and a doe can raise 5–6 litters a year. Ten does, two bucks and their young fit in a small shed, and they eat forages, vegetable leaves and some pellets.
Rabbits give several products: meat rabbits at 2–2.5 kg live weight (10–14 weeks), breeding stock, urine (a biopesticide and foliar feed), manure and skins. They are quiet and clean, which suits peri-urban farms.
